"Given the complexity of the issue, a hasty conclusion is unwarranted. Moreover, sex selection is one of those issues, like abortion or pornography, where a 'thin' moral analysis, in terms of permissibility or impermissibility, seems very inadequate....Sex selection should not elicit a 'knee-jerk' reaction; it should initiate a nuanced discussion of the various complex issues involved." (HASTINGS CENTER REPORT) The author contends the issue of sex selection needs further detailed discussion of its moral and ethical consequences before a hasty decision banning it is made.
