"Only a small number of adolescents--probably fewer than 1,000--have tried the high-risk, radical surgery to lose weight. But that number is expected to grow rapidly as more hospitals offer the procedure. At least 10 children's hospitals nationwide, plus an unknown number of surgery centers, perform the operation." (ST.
