GLOBAL WARMING -- "A report issued by the U.N.-sponsored Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change this past January [2001] predicts that global temperatures are rising at a faster rate than before believed....The U.N. Climate Change panel's report stresses that global warming results from human behavior. The implicit challenge is clear: Just as we have the ability to heat the planet, we also have the ability to reform our production practices and to restore the globe."
