520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "Ten years of chaos in Central Europe (here defined as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) and points east, as a dozen countries ripped up communism in favour of market economics, allowed many opportunists to get rich quick....That era is coming to an end, at least in the more advanced countries. Emerging from the chaos are new structures that are beginning to resemble the financial systems in Western Europe, complete with banks (mostly foreign-owned), stockmarkets, mortgages and pension funds, bank supervisors, securities commissions, property laws and governance codes." (ECONOMIST) This article discusses the changing economic structure for the countries in Central Europe.
