"The Huguenots were French Protestants, mainly those who followed the teachings of Jean Cauvin (1509-64) known better as John Calvin. While Calvin was France's counterpart to Martin Luther (1483-1546), his brand of Protestantism is not a mere copy of Lutheranism as it has separate tenets and beliefs.
