520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "By most reckonings, the ongoing drought is the deepest to sweep the West in more than a century. And some scientists now say it rivals the meanest dry spells of the past 1,400 years. It has scratched lasting scars across the landscape. It has drained reservoirs and blistered forests and rangelands, inflicting wounds that may not heal for decades. Damage to crops has pushed past half a billion dollars with several states still surveying the losses." (ARIZONA REPUBLIC) This article discusses the devastating effects the drought is continuing to have on the western region of the United States, noting the potential ramifications the drought may have on water sources, including the Colorado River.
