520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "Roughly half of all divorces in the United States occur within the first six or seven years of marriage, so most of the research into the effects of divorce focuses on small children and young adolescents. Nevertheless, plenty of marriages fall apart further down the road. About one-fifth of divorces involve couples married more than 15 years....A 1995 article in the journal Family Relations reported that one of every eight women who reaches age 40 still married to her first husband can expect to be divorced later on." (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER) This article discusses the emotional consequences that occur when "unhappy couples delay divorce until the children are in college--just when kids really need the warm security of home."
