520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. "At first, the drug made her worries magically disappear. But methamphetamine also made the local college student, Angela Ward, forget about her children, sometimes leaving them for days. The kids eventually were taken by the state, joining one of Pima County's newest--and grimmest--statistics. Meth has become the county's leading cause of child neglect, outpacing all other drugs combined. Last year [2004], about 600 Pima County children were taken from their homes and put in foster care due to their parents' problems with meth, a cheap and easy-to-make drug that causes a long-lasting, euphoric high." (ARIZONA DAILY STAR) This article illustrates the plight of children who are being abused and neglected because of their parents' abuse of methamphetamine.
