"The loggerhead's life history had an enormous gap....Hatchling loggerheads that swim away from American beaches are not seen here again until they are half-mature, weigh 60 pounds, and are the size of a garbage-can lid. Until the 1990s, no one could say for sure where the little turtles go and how long they stay there. What was known is that during these lost years, something happens that kills all but a very few." (WILDLIFE CONSERVATION) This article investigates the life history of the loggerhead turtle and explores conservation efforts to preserve this threatened sea turtle species.
