"Radical economists, according to an old joke, have successfully predicted ten of the last two recessions to hit the U.S. economy. But we're not the only ones predicting that the current economic expansion will end in recession before the end of the year [2001]. In March, the Economic Cycle Research Institute...concluded that a recession was 'no longer avoidable.' The last time the Institute made such a call was February 6, 1990--just before the economy last plunged into recession."
