The Taiwanese are in love with China, and particularly crazy about Shanghai. Fifty-two years ago, mainlanders packed ships and fled as China fell under Communist control. Today [2001], they are packing up their households and heading back." (LOS ANGELES TIMES) The author reports that Taiwanese presence is growing in China as Islanders move to the mainland in search of a better life.
