"Local politics is the foundation for democratic development, but it does not receive the same public attention and media scrutiny as occurrences on the national scene. A new crop of mayor and county executives is grappling with the problems of governing at the local level, starting with the limited budgets." (TAIPEI REVIEW) This article discusses Taiwan's weak political development and relays that officials believe limited funds and lack of media coverage affect local politics.
