What happened next offers a glimpse into attitudes toward homosexuality in nineteenth-century Canada." (BEAVER) This article discusses the case of George Markland, a prominent member of the Legislative Council in 19th-century Upper Canada, and how transcripts recorded accusations made against him of illicit homosexual activity.
