On this night, the sport could not have been more perfect. And yet, some people believe there is a better way to determine a national champion--that drama like this could be the standard, not the exception." (KANSAS CITY STAR) This article examines the intense debate over whether Division I-A football, the only college sport in which there is no official NCAA  champion, should have a playoff, noting opinions from college presidents, athletic directors, head football coaches and faculty athletic representatives.
